Declan Loughnane

Declan Loughnane has extensive experience in the medical device industry. Declan began their career at Medtronic in 2012 as an Associate Research and Development Engineer, where they worked for over two years on the development of a next-generation semi-compliant balloon catheter. During this time, they gained experience in all phase gates of the product development process and made significant contributions to the design team. Declan performed process characterization on key work steps, designed fixtures and operating procedures, and developed and tested product demonstration models.

In 2015, Loughnane joined Boston Scientific as an R&D Engineer, where they worked until 2019. Declan then took on the role of Senior Research and Development Engineer until 2023. At Boston Scientific, they continued to contribute to the development of medical devices, utilizing their expertise in research and development.

Currently, Loughnane is working at Luminate Medical as the Principal Research and Development Engineer, a position they have held since 2023.

Declan Loughnane obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin from 2007 to 2011. Declan then pursued their Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering - Manufacturing, Automation and Production Systems from University College Cork, which they completed from 2011 to 2012.
