Ross Uthoff is a seasoned optical systems engineer with extensive experience in lidar technology and optical engineering. Currently serving as Principal Engineer at Lumotive since July 2018, Uthoff focuses on developing high-performance lidar systems utilizing Light Control Metasurface (LCM) beam steering technology. Previous roles include internships at Microsoft, where Uthoff worked on optical characterization for HoloLens and hardware engineering, as well as a laser engineering internship at DILAS, contributing to high-power diode laser systems. Uthoff's foundational experience as an Optical Engineer at nLIGHT involved product development for laser rangefinder systems. Uthoff holds a Ph.D. and MS in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona and a BS in Optical Engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
