Juscelino Tovar is a highly experienced professional in the field of nutrition and biochemistry, currently serving as a Research Project Leader - Senior Researcher at Lund University since September 2007, focusing on the cardiometabolic-risk modulating features of functional foods and diets while also teaching at the doctoral level. Additionally, Tovar holds the position of Section Editor for Heliyon - Food Science and Nutrition with Elsevier since March 2024. Previous roles include membership in the Scientific Advisory Committee for the International Foundation for Science from March 2013 to June 2023, and professorship in Biochemistry and Nutrition at Universidad Central de Venezuela from March 1980 to June 2007. Tovar also served as Editor in Chief and Associate Editor for Acta Cientifica Venezolana from 1996 to 2005, and was an IFS Grantee from 1993 to 2004.
