Jennifer Fleischer

Jennifer Fleischer has a diverse work experience in the field of intellectual property and law. Jennifer currently works as the Director of Intellectual Property at Lyell Immunopharma since August 2021. Prior to this, they held the same position at Sangamo Therapeutics, Inc. from June 2019 to August 2021, where they gained expertise in gene therapy and genome regulation technology. Jennifer also served as the President of the Women's Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (WIPLA) from January 2018 to December 2020, where they led the organization in organizing events and providing professional support to women intellectual property lawyers. Before that, they worked as a Patent Counsel at BioTime, Inc. (now Lineage Cell Therapeutics) from December 2016 to June 2019. Jennifer started their career as a Patent and Trademark Attorney at Illumina, managing the non-invasive prenatal testing patent portfolio. Jennifer also worked as a Patent Attorney at O'Banion & Ritchey LLP, drafting and prosecuting patent applications for universities and technology companies. Jennifer gained technical experience as a Cancer Research Scientist at Aphton Corporation, specializing in immunology and cancer research. Jennifer has also held various teaching and research positions during their time at California State University and University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law.

Jennifer Fleischer obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from UC Santa Barbara from 1993 to 1998. Jennifer then pursued a Juris Doctor degree in Intellectual Property from the University of the Pacific - McGeorge School of Law, completing it from 2004 to 2007. Jennifer later earned a Master of Science degree in Molecular Genetics from California State University, Los Angeles, between 2009 and 2011. Prior to their higher education, they attended Folsom High School from 1989 to 1993. Jennifer is also certified by the State Bar of California as a California Bar member. Additionally, they hold a certification as a Registered Patent Attorney from the USPTO, although the year of obtaining this certification is unspecified.
