Julie Urvater

Julie Urvater has a diverse work experience in the field of intellectual property. Julie is currently working as a Senior Director of Intellectual Property at Lyell Immunopharma since June 2020. Prior to that, they served as a Lead Patent Agent at Zymeworks Inc. starting in September 2019 until June 2020.

Julie also worked at Immune Design, where they held multiple roles in intellectual property management. Julie was a Senior Director from January 2019 to August 2019, a Director from July 2015 to December 2018, and a Manager from April 2013 to July 2015.

Before these roles, Julie was a Patent Agent at Cooley LLP from September 2011 to March 2013. Julie began their career as a Patent Agent at Seed IP Law Group in November 2000, where they handled various aspects of patent application drafting, filing, prosecution, and portfolio management. Julie conducted due diligence and searches for companies and venture capital groups, managed multiple projects with tight deadlines, and represented clients in-person interviews with patent examiners at the USPTO.

Julie also has research experience as a Post Doctoral Research Fellow at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center from September 1999 to October 2000.

Julie Urvater has a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Prior to their Ph.D., they earned a BA in French from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Julie Urvater also attended the Colorado Rocky Mountain School, but it is unclear whether they obtained a degree or pursued any specific field of study there.
