Travis Beckett

Director, Flow Cytometry at Lyell Immunopharma

Travis Beckett has a diverse work experience in the field of flow cytometry and immunopharmaceuticals. Travis is currently the Director of Flow Cytometry at Lyell Immunopharma since February 2019. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Functional Assays & Flow Cytometry at Vir Biotechnology, Inc. from September 2017 to February 2019.

From January 2014 to August 2017, Travis worked at Juno Therapeutics as the Flow Cytometry Lead. In this role, they developed and qualified flow cytometry testing strategies for CAR T-cell clinical products and led flow cytometry method development for BLA enabling studies. Travis was also a subject matter expert in flow cytometry and a member of the Analytical Development and Technology R&D Senior Leadership Team.

Before Juno Therapeutics, Travis was a Scientist at Dendreon from April 2012 to January 2014. Here, they were involved in the development and optimization of flow cytometry panels and the maintenance of various flow cytometry instruments.

Prior to that, Travis worked at Emergent BioSolutions (formerly Trubion Pharmaceuticals) as a Scientist from January 2011 to June 2012. In this role, they established multi-color flow cytometry panels and oversaw the operation and maintenance of flow cytometry instruments.

Travis began their career at Trubion Pharmaceuticals in 2008 as a Research Associate and later served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Washington from 2006 to 2008.

Travis also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Vermont from 2005 to 2006, where they taught undergraduate laboratories and conducted research on the effects of caloric restriction and perfluorochemicals on lung biology.

Travis gained research experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at Tulane University from 2004 to 2005, where they completed coursework in Cell and Molecular Biology and taught undergraduate laboratories.

Travis started their career as a Laboratory Technician at the University of Vermont College of Medicine from 2000 to 2002, where they managed a research laboratory and performed various assays and nucleic acid isolation.

Travis Beckett completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Vermont, where they attended from 1996 to 2001. Later, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Pathobiology at the University of Washington, from 2006 to 2009.
