Elsbeth Dowd possesses extensive experience in arts and historical society management, currently serving as Executive Director at Lyme Art Association since January 2019, where responsibilities include enhancing community awareness and support. Previously, Elsbeth held the role of Executive Director at Oysterponds Historical Society, managing financial stability, community engagement, and exhibitions, while overseeing a budget of $375k. Elsbeth also worked as Museum Registrar at Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History and Collection Manager of Archaeology at the University of Oklahoma, managing extensive archaeological collections and promoting research initiatives. Elsbeth began the professional journey as an instructor and field director within academic settings, further complemented by a Doctor of Philosophy in Anthropology with a focus on Archaeology from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University.

Lyme Art Association
Opened in 1921 as a permanent exhibition home for the Lyme Art Colony artists, the Lyme Art Association Gallery, which is free to the public, continues to be a vibrant art center. Professional as well as developing artists mount major exhibitions throughout the year and form the heart of the Lyme Art Association which now boasts over 1,000 members. We have a busy schedule of exhibitions and sales, affordable art classes, workshops, and a popular lecture series.
