1st Grade, Teacher at LYNDEN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

I grew up in rural South Dakota. Upon graduating from Dordt College in 1997 with a BA in Elementary Education, I moved to the coast of North Carolina. I taught at Terra Ceia Christian School for four years.

My husband Paul and I then moved to Edgerton, Minnesota. I taught at Leota Christian school for a year and a half. For the next ten years, I was a stay-at-home mother to our five children: Tyesha, David, Devonta, Eli and Abram.

I completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Dordt College in 2014. I taught part-time fourth grade and was the curriculum director at Edgerton Christian the following year.

In July of 2015 our family moved to Lynden, Washington. I spent the next year subbing on both the Evergreen and Lynden Christian campuses. I am now excited to be teaching part-time first grade at Lynden Christian.

I love teaching at Lynden Christian Schools because teaching in a Christian school allows for the manifestation of an active body of Christ. It allows for all members – teachers, staff, parents and students – to work together for the betterment of God’s kingdom as we equip students to be the hands and feet of Christ in today’s world. As a teacher in a Christian school, I am able to guide and aid students toward living a life of discipleship, knowing and believing that everything in the world is under the leadership of the Lord, and thus, living accordingly.

When not at school, I enjoy being with my family and friends, reading, working on house projects, gardening and being outside.
