Chris Cardona

Chris Cardona serves as Managing Director for Discovery, Exploration, and Programs at the MacArthur Foundation since August 2023, leading efforts to identify new areas of grantmaking and advising the foundation's President on strategic matters. Previously, Chris Cardona worked at the Ford Foundation from April 2015 to May 2023, where responsibilities included managing the Philanthropy grantmaking portfolio and revitalizing the program during a period of significant change. Chris Cardona has also contributed to academia as a Lecturer in Nonprofit Management at Columbia University School of Professional Studies and held various positions in philanthropy and consulting at TCC Group and Hispanics in Philanthropy. Chris Cardona's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, complementing extensive leadership in diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the philanthropic sector.
