Lela Mendez, RN, a seasoned healthcare professional with extensive experience in nursing and emergency medical services, has been employed at MacNeal Hospital since September 2011 in various roles, including Employee Health Nurse, Behavioral Health Nurse, and Perioperative Nurse/ENT Operating Room Team Leader. Lela has demonstrated proficiency in planning and delivering nursing care while monitoring patient progress and initiating appropriate interventions. Prior to this, Lela worked in diverse nursing and paramedic positions at AdventHealth, Surgical Care Affiliates, North American Partners in Anesthesia, Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, and Lifeline Mobile Medics, showcasing strong decision-making skills, organizational abilities, and effective communication. Lela holds an AAS in Nursing from Morton College and a Paramedic Licensure from Loyola University Medical Center, complemented by foundational education from DePaul University and Morton East High School.
