Michael Zimmerman

CIO, Communications & IT at Macomb Community College

Michael Zimmerman is the current Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Communications and IT at Macomb Community College. Michael has over 20 years of experience in IT management, engineering, and administration.

Zimmerman began their career at Lamb Technicon in 1979 and held various positions over the next 18 years. In 1997, they were promoted to IT Manager where they were responsible for the administration of a 200+ seat Windows-2000 local area network. Michael also oversaw five Body-In-White design and manufacturing facilities in North America and the UK.

In 2002, Zimmerman was promoted to Director of Engineering Information Technology at Lamb Technicon. In this role, they were responsible for developing and CAD systems interoperability across eight facilities in North America and Europe. Michael left Lamb Technicon in 2005 to join mag-ias as Director of Engineering Information Technology.

Michael joined Macomb Community College in 2010 as their CIO for Communications & IT. In this role, Zimmerman is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating of the college’s information technology functions.

Michael Zimmerman has a MS in Operations Management from [Kettering University and a BS in Computer Science from Wayne State University.
