Michael Kopfler

Michael Kopfler is in charge of strategic direction, daily operation and management of Macquarie Asset Management’s global equity trading desk. This includes maximizing technology and analytics and implementing innovative trading solutions to enhance client outcomes.

Prior to his current position, Kopfler fulfilled a number of positions at Fidelity Investments where he spent more than two decades. He served as its Head of Fixed Income Trading and managed a team of 28 in Europe and the US. This involved strategic planning and executing on the integration of technology throughout the trading process, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Before that at Fidelity International, he took on the role of Global Head of Trading in April 2016. Located in London, he led the structure and management of the global trading team with six managers and forty traders. This covered FX, fixed income and equities in Europe, the US and Asia.

Also at Fidelity Investments, he served as Co-Head of Global Equity Cash Trading for just over four years. He established and managed trading desks in London and Hong Kong, consisting of fourteen traders including a Head Trader. Based in Boston, he planned the expansion and set-up of equity trading desks in London and Hong Kong. Further, he worked in the US and International high-touch sector trading while working closely with the investment team. In an earlier role, he contributed as an Emerging Market Debt and US High Yield Bond Trader.
