Kristy Markos, Ph.D. has extensive work experience in patent law and biotechnology. Kristy currently serves as Associate Patent Director at MacroGenics, Inc. since June 2022. Kristy previously held the roles of Senior Patent Agent and Patent Agent at the same company. Prior to that, they worked as a Patent Agent at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox from 2010 to 2017, where they prepared and prosecuted patent applications and provided legal support for clients. Dr. Markos also has research experience, having worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Cancer Institute from 2004 to 2007 and as a Doctoral Student at George Washington University from 1998 to 2004. Kristy started their career as a Technical IRTA Fellow at NCI, NIH in 1997.

Kristy Markos, Ph.D. obtained their education from various prestigious institutions. Kristy started their academic journey at McLean High School, where they completed their secondary education from 1989 to 1993. Subsequently, they enrolled at the University of Mary Washington, where they pursued their bachelor's degree in Biology. Kristy excelled during their undergraduate studies and graduated with a B.S., Magna Cum Laude with Honors in 1997.

Driven by their passion for Immunology, Kristy furthered their education at The George Washington University. From 1998 to 2001, they pursued a Master of Philosophy degree in Immunology and continued their studies until 2004 to earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree in the same field. Demonstrating exceptional academic performance, Kristy achieved the highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude for their Ph.D.

In addition to their extensive educational background, Kristy also earned a certification as a Registered Patent Agent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Kristy obtained this certification in March 2012, further enhancing their expertise and qualifications in the field of patent law and intellectual property.
