Raul Camacho

Raul Camacho is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in pharmaceutical research and development. Currently serving as Director at Madrigal Pharmaceuticals since 2024, Raul leads back-up programs with external CMOs/CROs, focusing on business development, biomarker development, and medical writing. Previously, Raul held positions at Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, as Senior Principal Scientist (2019-2023) and Principal Scientist (2013-2018), where responsibilities included managing teams of scientists and leading key research programs in areas such as acute kidney injury, obesity, and biomarkers. Earlier career experience includes roles at Merck Research Laboratories as Associate Principal Scientist, overseeing clinical development studies, and a research fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Raul's academic qualifications include a PhD in Molecular Physiology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
