Peter Avenell

Peter Avenell is an experienced professional in program management and leadership, currently serving as Country Director at MAG (Mines Advisory Group) since January 2020. Prior roles include Country Director positions at Action Africa Help - Uganda and a transitional period in 2019, along with a notable tenure at Save the Children, where Peter held various leadership roles from Director of Programme Implementation in Tanzania to Director of Programme Operations in Kenya. Previous experience also includes significant positions at CARE South Sudan, CORD, and Norwegian People's Aid, where responsibilities ranged from Assistant Country Director to overseeing multiple programs across regions. Peter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology with a focus on Cultural and Community Studies from the University of Sussex in the UK.
