Rebecca Kockler

Rebecca Kockler is an experienced education professional currently serving as Executive Director at AERDF since July 2021 and as Founder and CEO of Magpie Literacy since January 2021. Prior to these roles, Kockler worked as an Independent Consultant from December 2018 to December 2020 and held the position of Assistant Superintendent of Academic Content at the Louisiana Department of Education from October 2012 to July 2018. Kockler also contributed to Teach For America as Vice President of Teacher Support and Development from June 2005 to September 2012 and began their career as a teacher at Newark Public Schools from August 2003 to June 2005. Kockler holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from St. Olaf College, earned in May 2003.

We are on a mission to unlock the great reader in every child to end illiteracy in our country -- centering the experiences of Black, Latino, and Native American students and students experiencing poverty. We are developing research-based, identity-affirming PK-8+ digital literacy tools that leverage student uniquenesses to help every child master the foundational reading skills needed to become strong, confident readers.
