Andres Zapico Martin

Andres Zapico Martin is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in hydropower and civil works. Currently serving as the Director of Pumped Storage Hydropower Projects at MAGTEL since January 2022, Andres leads the design, permitting, and construction of over 24 pumped storage hydropower projects. Prior roles include Chief Operating Officer at CAF Turnkey & Engineering, where Andres managed a significant suburban railway expansion project, and Project Manager at GRUPO RED ELECTRICA, overseeing the Chira-Soria hydroelectric pumped storage facility. Additional experience spans various project management and engineering positions in prominent companies such as ACCIONA INGENIERÍA and IBERDROLA INGENIERIA Y CONSTRUCCIÓN. Andres holds a Ph.D. in Mining, Civil Works, and Environment from Universidad de Oviedo, along with multiple degrees in mining engineering and advanced structural calculation.
