Ron Ciardiello is a Managing Director for In-House Counsel Recruiting with over 15 years of experience. He has placed lawyers at all levels of public and private companies, including GC, CIPC, CCO, VP Securities, DGC, Commercial Counsel, Product Counsel, etc. Ron has worked in a wide range of sectors; he has extensive experience in the Pharma/biotech and technology sectors. While located in Boston, Ron has placed attorneys across the U.S. and worked with the EMEA recruiters to place many attorneys in Europe.
Prior to joining MLA, Ron had a successful 20 plus-year career as an associate at K&E and as an in-house counsel for Verizon and its predecessors. Ron was the V.P. of Corporate Development & G.C. of a $500M multi-national publishing subsidiary of R.R. Donnelley & Verizon. In this role, Ron led the efforts to launch new businesses in Europe and China.
As a recruiter, Ron draws heavily upon his experience practicing law. He understands the skills required to be a successful counsel for a corporation, particularly the ability to anticipate potential issues and provide creative solutions to achieve business objectives. One General Counsel of a client noted that, "What sets Ron apart is his extensive legal experience and business acumen, which gives him a deep understanding of the requirements of a position allowing him to discern who will be an exceptional, as compared to a good, performer."
Ron knows top talent when he sees it and takes pride in identifying these candidates for clients before they have achieved their ultimate success. For example, in a recent general counsel search for a biotech company, the CEO originally passed on such a candidate who did not yet have experience as a GC. Ron explained why he thought this was a mistake and why he felt the candidate had the ability to be a top performer. The CEO reconsidered and hired the candidate, who became one of his top advisors in the C-suite.
Ron enjoys advising and hopefully helping attorneys with their careers. Before submitting a candidate, he feels strongly that an opportunity must make sense for the candidate and their future objectives. This also benefits the company because such a candidate is going to be happy in their new position.
Ron is a strong advocate for diversity. Over the course of his career at MLA, over 50% of his placements are diverse.
