Hamzat Lawal

Hamzat Lawal is an experienced professional focused on education, climate change, and energy advocacy. As an Education Champion at Malala Fund since April 2020, Lawal is committed to advancing girls' secondary education in Nigeria and globally. As the Founder and Chief Executive of Connected Development (CODE) since February 2013, Lawal leads the development and implementation of the organization’s vision and strategy. Additionally, as an Executive Board Member of the African Youth Initiative on Climate Change (AYICC) since July 2009, Lawal contributes to policy advocacy and engages with a wide network across African countries. Prior experience includes serving as an Executive at the International Centre for Energy, Environment and Development (ICEED) from February 2008 to January 2013, where Lawal worked on advocacy and communications related to energy and environmental issues. Hamzat Lawal is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science at the University of Abuja.
