Director, Engineering at Man Crates

Doug Ballard is currently the Director of Engineering at Man Crates. Prior to this, they worked as the Digital Technology Delivery and Strategy Leader at OppenheimerFunds from January 2015 to October 2020. In this role, they were responsible for the delivery and strategy for oppenheimerfunds.com and multiple other public-facing digital properties. Doug migrated the company from a legacy on-premise deployment to an AWS EC2 and Elastic Beanstalk cloud deployment, saving the company millions in infrastructure and support costs while increasing site page performance by 40%. Ballard also designed and developed the only solution in the financial services industry to integrate with all DST platforms concurrently to present a consolidated view of all investment vehicles to users, including the ability to perform all financial transactions and account maintenance. This application was deployed on AWS Elastic Beanstalk and could scale to handle millions of simultaneous requests. In addition, Ballard developed an identity platform to handle Single Sign On across all Oppenheimerfunds digital properties using open standards, which allowed for social sign-on to gain access to restricted content on the websites. Doug also designed and implemented Dual Factor Authentication utilizing the ForgeRock Digital Identity Platform. Lastly, Ballard was responsible for the design and development of the iOS application for the CEO Advisor Institute program, which delivered many types of digital content for advisors to learn and grow their firms, allowing them to interact with personalized content and use OppenheimerFunds licensed materials to deliver value to their clients.

Doug Ballard has a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems and Accounting from Colorado State University. Doug is also certified from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) in Finra Series 99.

Doug Ballard reports to Jonathan Beekman, Founder & CEO. Doug Ballard works with Chris Selden - SVP, Business Operations, Chase Ishii - Senior Creative Director, and Beti Simon - VP, Merchandising & Planning.
