Arman Bonakdarpour

Co-Founder and Technical Advisor at Mangrove Lithium

Arman Bonakdarpour has a diverse and extensive work experience. In 2017, they co-founded and served as a technical advisor for Mangrove Water Technologies, where they played a crucial role in developing a solution for recovering extractable value from carbon dioxide and saline wastewater. This technology aimed to reduce operational costs, water consumption, wastewater generation, and carbon footprint in the oil and gas sector.

Prior to this, they held various positions at The University of British Columbia, starting in 2008. Arman served as a Senior Research Associate and held guest lecturer and sessional lecturer roles in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and the Clean Energy Research Center, respectively. Additionally, they worked as an NSERC Post-Doctoral Research Fellow from 2008 to 2010.

In 2016, Bonakdarpour became an Adjunct Professor at the New York Institute of Technology - Vancouver. Arman also served as a Visiting Scholar at the National Research Council Canada from 2008 to 2011.

Earlier in their career, they held positions as an NSERC Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2007 and as a Graduate Research/Teaching Assistant at Dalhousie University from 2000 to 2007. Arman also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of British Columbia in 1997 and at Ballard Power Systems in 1996. Arman started their career as a Research Assistant at E-One Moli Energy (Canada) Limited from 1995 to 1995.

Arman Bonakdarpour holds a PhD in Applied Physics / Materials Science from Dalhousie University. Arman also acquired a Master's degree in the same field of study from Dalhousie University. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Physics and Computer Science (Honours, Co-op Program) at The University of British Columbia. Arman received their High School Diploma from Sutherland Secondary School. Additionally, they achieved the Piano Grade 10 (Honours) certification from The Royal Conservatory of Music. However, no specific start or end years were provided for any of these educational experiences.
