Daniel Payne

SVP & Chief Security Officer at ManTech International

Daniel Payne is the Senior Vice President and Chief Security Officer at ManTech International. Daniel has over 25 years of experience in security, including serving as the Director of the Defense Security Service from 2016 to 2019.

Under Daniel's leadership, the Defense Security Service transformed from a compliance-based agency to one that was risk-based, fed by intelligence, and tailored to each facility and technology. Daniel also implemented a new methodology for background investigations that has enrolled 1.1 million people.

In addition, Daniel has enhanced business and counterintelligence analysis to prevent foreign intelligence services from tampering with the supply chains of national security systems and prevent the theft of critical technology and classified information. Daniel has also developed and begun implementing new methodology to act as an early warning system when adversary countries are attempting to use cyber techniques to steal technology within the Defense Industrial Base.

Daniel Payne completed their BS in Political Science from Ball State University and went on to get a certification from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) in Certified Fraud Examiner.
