Mike Hughes

Mike Hughes currently serves as SVP & Chief Information Security Officer at Nordstrom, a position held since March 2025. Previously, Mike held the role of DVP & Chief Information Security Officer at REI from June 2021 to March 2025, where responsibilities included leading teams in Cybersecurity Engineering, Identity and Access Management, and Cyber Defense Operations. Prior to REI, Mike was Senior Director of Cyber Security at Target from May 2019 to May 2021, overseeing various teams dedicated to cyber security initiatives and incident response within the Target Cyber Fusion Center. At Starbucks from February 2014 to May 2019, Mike advanced multiple teams in security operations and engineering, and played a key role in establishing the first Cyber Security Operations Team. Mike’s career in information security began at RR Donnelley as Regional Operations Manager for Premedia Technologies, and educational background includes studies at Bellevue College.
