Christopher Frei has had a varied work experience. From 2011 to 2015, they were a Ph.D. Candidate in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Houston, where they focused on engineering transcriptional regulatory proteins for use as endogenous small molecule biosensors. From 2007 to 2011, they were a Graduate Student and Lab Technician at Penn State University, where they were responsible for running 6 x 0.5 L fermentors, DNA cloning, basic biological experiments, media preparation, creating a new ABET certified undergraduate course in biochemical engineering, and designing and implementing biological assays for several metabolic engineering projects involving xylitol production in Escherichia coli. In 2013, they were a Pyrotechnician's Assistant at Illumination Fireworks, LLC. From 2015 to present, they have been a Senior Scientist, Research Scientist, and Senior Research Associate at Manus Bio, and a Senior Scientist in Quality Assurance at 8th Wonder Brewery.
Christopher Frei obtained their High School Diploma from Tunkhannock in 2003. Christopher then attended Penn State University where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering in 2007, followed by a Master of Science in the same field in 2010. In 2011, they began a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Houston and completed it in 2013.
