Team Lead, Process Development And Lab Operations at Manus Bio

Stephen Sarria has a long history of working in research and development. In 2018, they joined Manus Bio as a Senior Research Scientist, where they were also a Research Scientist and an Industrial Postdoctoral Scientist. From 2012 to 2018, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they engineered Escherichia coli and Saccharomyces cerevisiae strains to produce biofuel precursors, established a medium-throughput sensor platform for the purpose of improving microbial medium-chain fatty acid production, managed the shipment of biological materials, performed maintenance and repairs of gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer, and mentored high school students, undergraduates, and research technicians. From 2010 to 2011, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at Southern Polytechnic State University, where they investigated the effects of Fis, a global regulator protein, on the malK promoter in E. coli. In 2011, they were an Undergraduate Researcher (Research Experience for Undergraduates) at Georgia Institute of Technology, where they engineered the glucocorticoid receptor for activation with GFP chromophore derivatives.

Stephen Sarria received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Southern Polytechnic State University in 2012. Stephen then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2017.
