Kristofor Carle has over 10 years of work experience in the geospatial software engineering and development field. From 2002-2003, they served as the Transportation Operations Planning Manager and Bus Operator/Transit Dispatcher for the Shuttle UM Transit System at the University of Maryland. During this time, they implemented post-9/11 security procedures and introduced GIS, GPS, and other electronic data gathering technologies. From 2003-2006, they were a Faculty Research Assistant in the Department of Paleobiology at the University of Maryland, where they used GIS to catalog coral species. From 2006-2008, they were a Software Developer/Data Analyst at Progressive Clarity, where they developed custom tools for data gathering, ETL and data warehousing, data mining, and data exploration and visualization. Kristofor also developed AUSTIN, a 2D/3D dynamic social network visualization tool for researching terrorist networks and other social network data. From 2008-2009, they were the Chief Technology Officer at Aiki Labs, where they were responsible for brainstorming and developing prototype services, including Open Web Learning (OWL). From 2009-2010, they were a Geospatial Software Engineer at SYNCADD Systems, Inc., where they lead geospatial software development on various projects. From 2015-2016, they were the Lead Developer at Moabi, where they developed and maintained Moabi's open source web mapping software based on OpenStreetMap. Finally, from 2016 to present, they have been the Lead Engineer Developer & Co-founder of MapHubs, a one-stop platform for mapping natural resources and monitoring deforestation.
Kristofor Carle attended the University of Maryland from 2001 to 2006, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Geographic Information Systems.
