Joseph Flowers has extensive work experience in the fields of risk management, training, and safety. Joseph started their career as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, where they served for four years and was involved in humanitarian aid efforts. Following their military service, Joseph worked as an EHS Specialist at Safety Guidance Specialists, Inc. for 15 years. During this time, they managed sites with large employee populations and supervised field safety technicians. In 2019, Joseph joined Marathon Electrical Contractors as the Risk & Training Director before transitioning to the role of Safety Manager. Joseph holds certifications in SMS, GSP, CHST, STSC, and HSM.
Joseph Flowers has a diverse education history in the field of Occupational Safety & Health. Joseph obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University in July 2022. Joseph also received additional certifications from the same institution, including Industrial Hygiene Specialist and Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Specialist in July 2022.
In terms of professional certifications, they have obtained several important credentials. Joseph became a Safety Management Specialist (SMS) through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals in September 2021. These include a Master Trainer Certification from NCCER in October 2021, Forklift & MEWP Train The Trainer from Forklift Training Systems in July 2020, and 40 Hour EM385-1-1 Training from the American Safety Council, Inc in June 2020. Joseph also completed the Electrical Safety Train-the-Trainer for Qualified Electrical Workers Certificate Program at The University of Alabama in December 2019.
Moreover, they hold additional certifications, such as the NFPA 3000 Active Shooter/ Hostile Event Response Specialist from NFPA, completed in November 2019. Joseph also attained the ASME Rigging Trainer Development Course from The Crosby Group in April 2019, and the Medic ITDC Release 2017 Instructor Trainer Development Course from Health & Safety Institute (HSI) also in April 2019. Joseph became a First Aid/ CPR/ AED (Adult/ Pediatric) Level 3 Instructor Trainer through Health & Safety Institute (HSI) in May 2018.
Lastly, Joseph obtained the OSHA 3115 Fall Protection certification from The University of Alabama in October 2017. Joseph also completed the 30 Hour OSHA Training Course in Construction Safety & Health from Safety Guidance Specialists, Inc. in September 2017. Additionally, they hold a Transportation Worker Identification Card obtained from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in October 2016.
