Jeanne Spillane

Jeanne Spillane is a doctoral student at MaREI, focusing on achieving universal access to clean fuels and technologies within households while examining synergies and trade-offs with climate action goals. Previous experience includes serving as a Policy Officer in the Scottish Government, where Jeanne led the Home Energy Scotland initiative, and working as a Humanitarian Adviser at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations. Jeanne has also held communications roles with the World Food Programme, providing media support and engagement on food security issues. Additional roles include serving as an Advisor at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Ireland and working with UNDP as a Digital Outreach Associate. Jeanne's educational background includes a Master of Philosophy in Peace Studies and a Master of Science in Development Practice, alongside various certifications in humanitarian topics. Current studies include pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Energy Resilience at University College Cork.
