Katie Allston has a diverse work experience in the non-profit sector. Katie started their career as a Program Manager for HIV Services at Project PLASE, Inc in 2002. In this role, they coordinated grants and supervised a team in providing outreach and support services to HIV infected residents in transitional shelters.
In 2006, they joined the YWCA of the Greater Baltimore Area as the Director of Homeless Services. Katie managed five housing programs for homeless women and families in Baltimore City and County, ensuring the delivery of services to approximately 50 families and 30 single women.
In 2007, Katie became the Executive Director of Marian House. In this position, they worked collaboratively with the Board of Directors to uphold the organization's mission and values. Katie provided oversight to staff, managed a budget of $3 million, led fundraising efforts, and represented the organization in various sectors.
Katie Allston obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from William & Mary from 1994 to 1996. Katie then pursued a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) with a specialization in Addiction at the University of Maryland Baltimore from 1997 to 2001. In 2015, Katie completed the GBC LEADership class. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Strategic Perspectives in NonProfit Management from Harvard Business School in July 2023.
