Beñat Mallavia, PhD has worked in the field of biomedical research since 2006. Beñat began their career at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where they completed their PhD in 2006, focusing on Macrophage activation and Fc receptor implication during Atherosclerotic plaque formation. Beñat then moved to UCSF in 2012, where they worked as a Research Specialist and Postdoctoral fellow, studying the application of different antibody treatments to reduce the edema and inflammatory response created by acute and long-term lung injury. In 2020, they joined Marin Biologic Laboratories as Director of Scientific Services and Senior Scientist.

From 2012 to 2020, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Immunology at the University of California, San Francisco.
