Michael Porter is an experienced Imaging Specialist at The James Hutton Institute since May 2022 and serves as a Course Facilitator for the Analytical and Quantitative Light Microscopy (AQLM) course at the Marine Biological Laboratory since April 2012. Prior to these roles, Michael spent two decades at the University of Dundee, including a postdoctoral research position in the laboratory of Prof. Nicola Stanley-Wall, focusing on bacterial biofilms, along with various research assistant and technician roles in gene regulation, cancer biology, and pharmacogenomics. Michael holds a PhD in Molecular Microbiology and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry, both from the University of Dundee.
