Harold Van Opdorp has a diverse and extensive work experience that spans over several decades. Harold began their career in 1989 as a United States Marine and served in various roles within the United States Marine Corps until 2019. During this time, they held positions such as Deputy Legislative Assistant to the Commandant of the Marine Corps and Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion, 24th Marines.

In 2013, Harold was selected as the Commanding Officer of Officer Candidates School, where they successfully transformed the school's reputation and streamlined its operations. Harold later moved on to serve as the Division Chief for JOD CENT, Regional Operations J35 at the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 2015 to 2017. In this role, they led a team responsible for planning and authorizing operations in the US Central Command.

After their tenure at the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Harold served as the Chief of Staff for the Secretary of the Navy in 2019 and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense - Comptroller in 2020. In these positions, they provided policy advice on strategic planning, budgetary issues, financial management, and employee training and development.

Most recently, Harold has taken on the role of Chief Operating Officer at the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation in 2021. In this capacity, they oversee several departments, including operations, finance and accounting, and data operations. Additionally, they play a key role in establishing the Foundation's long-term strategic direction and ensuring its financial strength and operating efficiency.

Throughout their career, Harold Van Opdorp has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to driving positive change in the organizations they have served.

Harold Van Opdorp obtained their Bachelor's of Business Administration degree in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame - Mendoza College of Business, from 1985 to 1989. Harold then pursued further education in the military field, earning a Master's degree in Military Strategic Studies, General from the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, Marine Corps University from 2002 to 2003. Harold continued their military education with a Masters Degree in Advanced Military and Operational Studies from the Marine Corps School of Advanced Warfighting from 2003 to 2004. Lastly, they obtained a Master's degree in National Security Policy Studies from the Marine Corps War College from 2007 to 2008.
