Eugene Butan

Head of DevOps at Marionete

Eugene Butan has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Eugene is currently the Head of DevOps at Marionete, a position they have held since June 2022. Prior to this, Eugene worked at Barclaycard where they served as the Platforms Lead from November 2017 to June 2022.

Before joining Barclaycard, Eugene was a Senior Automation Architect at Interoute from September 2016 to November 2017. Eugene also had a role as a Software Engineer/Officer at Cranfield University, School of Management from February 2016 to October 2016.

At Cranfield University, Eugene held two positions; they were a Senior Research Fellow from March 2012 to December 2015 and a Doctorate Researcher from November 2007 to March 2012. In their role as a Senior Research Fellow, Eugene played a critical role as the lead Technical Designer for the Scenario Investment Model (SIM) within the Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre, contributing to the LCNF Tier 2 FALCON project. Eugene was responsible for developing the SIM, innovative software that enables planning, optimization, and investment modeling for low-carbon electricity distribution networks.

Eugene's career began at Mikrotik, where they served as the Chief Testing Systems Engineer from May 2005 to September 2006.

Eugene Butan received their Master's Degree in Computer Aided Design of Gear Shaper Cutters from Cranfield University in 2007. Eugene then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Multi-objective optimization at the same university from 2007 to 2011.
