Ron Buckmire

Ron Buckmire serves as the Dean at Marist College, overseeing the School of Computer Science and Mathematics, which supports various programs with approximately 450 students. At Occidental College, Buckmire has held multiple roles since 1994, including Professor of Mathematics and Associate Dean for Curricular Affairs, where responsibilities included chairing the Academic Planning Committee and managing curricular changes. Buckmire has also served as the Interim Chair of the Mathematics Department and contributed to numerous co-curricular programs. Additional experience includes directing NSF initiatives focused on improving undergraduate STEM education and co-founding significant advocacy organizations for Black LGBT equality and HIV/AIDS resources. Buckmire holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
