Global Head Of Customer Insights at Marley Spoon

Joana Mello has extensive work experience in customer insights and research. Joana is currently working at Marley Spoon as the Global Head of Customer Insights, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Senior Customer Insights Manager at Marley Spoon from November 2020 to March 2022, and before that, they were a Senior Customer Insights Analyst from June 2020 to November 2020.

Before joining Marley Spoon, Joana worked at the William James Center for Research - ISPA - Instituto Universitário. Joana held the position of Researcher and Ph.D. in Social Psychology from October 2015 to December 2020. During this time, they received a scholarship from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and published four papers in peer-reviewed journals. Joana also presented their work at 12 conferences internationally and nationally, collaborating with teams in Madrid, Spain, and Ohio, US.

Prior to their Ph.D. role, Joana worked as a Research Assistant at the William James Center from September 2013 to September 2015. In this role, they were involved in various research projects in the fields of Social Psychology and Social Cognition, resulting in five published papers and participation in 10 international conferences. Joana'sresponsibilities included designing and conducting scientific experiments, hypothesis testing, and statistical analysis to study human behavior and attitudes. Joana also supported project and budget management.

Additionally, Joana has experience in customer research, particularly with Insights by Kantar. Joana worked as part of the Kantar TNS team from October 2012 to October 2013, participating in quantitative and qualitative projects in various industries such as energy, food, consumer goods, entertainment, and education. Joana also worked on projects using the NeedScope methodology, which focuses on understanding and managing emotion in the marketing process.

Earlier in their career, Joana worked as a Market Researcher at Pitagórica-Investigação e Estudos de Mercado from October 2011 to July 2012, and at Consumer Channel from October 2010 to May 2011.

Joana Mello's education history includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Social Psychology from Ispa - Instituto Universitário, which they pursued from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, they completed an Online Course (Coursera) on the Neurobiology of everyday life at the University of Chicago in 2015. Joana also holds a Master's degree in Organizational and Social Psychology, obtained from Ispa - Instituto Universitário between 2009 and 2011. Joana began their academic journey by earning a Licentiate degree in Psychology from Ispa - Instituto Universitário, which they completed from 2006 to 2009.

Additionally, Joana Mello has obtained the Qualtrics Platform Essentials Certification from Qualtrics in March 2023.
