Tamara Walczak has a diverse range of work experience, spanning various healthcare and religious organizations. Tamara started their career as a Medical Service Specialist in the United States Air Force from 1986 to 1991. Tamara then transitioned into the role of Director of Pastoral Care at St Mary's Woods Retirement Facility from 2009 to 2013. Afterward, they served as an Interim Minister of Congregational Care at River Road Presbyterian Church from 2014 to 2015. Tamara furthered their chaplaincy experience as a Chaplain Intern at Durham VA Medical Center in 2015 and as a Chaplain Resident at Centra Health from 2015 to 2016. Tamara also worked as a Per Diem Associate Chaplain at the University of Maryland Medical Center in 2017. Currently, they hold the position of Director of Spiritual Care at LifeBridge Health/Grace Medical Center, starting in 2018.

Tamara Walczak earned a Bachelor of Religious Education degree in Psychology/Music from Cornerstone University between 1981 and 1986. Tamara later pursued a Master of Divinity degree with a focus on Pastoral Care at the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond from 2007 to 2014. In 2011, Tamara was ordained by First Baptist Church, Richmond, VA. Additionally, they obtained an Ecclesiastical Endorsement from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship in 2016.
