Carl S. Perkins

Carl S. Perkins, Ed.D. was appointed by the Governor of Maryland to the Howard Community College Board of Trustees for a term extending through June 30, 2025.

A professional educator, Dr. Perkins began his career as a teacher in Baltimore City and after four years joined the Howard County Public School System. Dr. Perkins enjoyed a 39-year tenure, serving as a teacher, a new teacher recruiter, assistant principal at Wilde Lake Middle School, and principal of Oakland Mills Middle School, Folly Quarter Middle School, and Centennial High School. Dr. Perkins also served on the Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education for the Maryland State Department of Education.

Dr. Perkins was an adjunct faculty member at McDaniel College and is an adjunct faculty member and professional development school liaison and supervisor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC. He previously was an education consultant with Chesapeake Lighthouse Charter Schools and a supervisor of administrative interns at Loyola University Maryland.

A well-regarded educator, Dr. Perkins is a member of the professional organization of educators - Phi Delta Kappa International, a former nominee for the Howard County Educator of the Year Award, a past participant in the NASA Teacher in Space program, and a member of the Towson University Athletic Hall of Fame.
