Felícita Solá-Carter joined the Howard Community College Board of Trustees in April 2016 and was reappointed in June 2020 to continue her service on the board through June 2026. Previously, Ms. Solá-Carter served as the board’s chairperson and chair of the board’s audit and finance committee from July 2019 through June 2021 and board vice chairperson and chair of the board’s legislative and community relations committee from July 2018 through June 2019.
Ms. Solá-Carter established Felícita Solá-Carter Consulting in 2009. She is a consultant, coach, and trainer on leadership, employee development, and diversity strategies. She is a Senior Advisor to Government Leaders with the Partnership for Public Service and other nonprofit organizations.
Previously, Ms. Solá-Carter enjoyed a stellar career with the Social Security Administration (SSA). From 1971 through 2009, she advanced from her first position as a Claims Representative in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City to attain the position of Assistant Deputy Commissioner for Human Resources. In this role, Ms. Solá-Carter provided leadership of human resources areas including training; personnel; civil rights and equal opportunity; labor, management, and employee relations; human capital planning; and executive services support.
