Christopher Batten is an accomplished fine artist and educator currently serving as an Adjunct Professor at the Maryland Institute College of Art since June 2019 and as a Professor at Bard High School Early College since January 2018. Batten has a diverse background in arts education, having worked as a Teaching Artist with Living Arts Detroit, providing integrated arts education to middle school students, and as an Art Instructor at the Chapel Hill Children's and Youth Art Center for students ranging from grades 2 to 12. In addition, Batten has held roles at Maryland Institute College of Art as a Graduate Program Assistant and Graduate Teaching Intern, equipping essential skills for a successful academic career. Educational qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, a BFA in Illustration from the College for Creative Studies, and ongoing studies for a Certificate in the College Teaching of Art.
