Dr. Halima Dargan, LPC, LCPC, is an experienced mental health professional currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Long Island University since August 2023. Dargan founded The Curly Counselor in August 2016, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness. Previous roles include Clinical Director of Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health at Mary's Center from November 2022 to July 2024, Staff Clinician at American University from October 2021 to October 2022, and Clinical Director at Noble Minds Institute from July 2017 to July 2021. Dargan also worked as a Mental Health Counselor at Children's Bureau and as an Academic Assistant at ReNEW Schools Charter Management Organization. Dargan holds a PhD in Counselor Education/School Counseling and Guidance Services from the University of Holy Cross and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Xavier University of Louisiana.
