Alexandra Markiewicz is a seasoned transportation professional with extensive experience in modernizing public transit systems. Currently serving as the Deputy Director of Bus Modernization at MBTA since May 2020, Alexandra spearheads the rebuilding of nine bus maintenance facilities in Greater Boston to transition the fleet to battery electric buses. Prior roles include Transportation Planner at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Community Planner at Volpe, focusing on transportation research, capacity studies, and operational planning. Additionally, Alexandra has contributed to urban planning through various positions, including managing the NECTAR Conference at Taubman College and editorial leadership for the AGORA Journal. Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Chicago and a Master's degree in Urban Planning from the University of Michigan.
