Tom Waye is an experienced professional with a diverse background in Human Resources. Tom currently holds the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at the MBTA since April 2021. Prior to this role, Tom served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Human Resource Director at The Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) from 2016 to 2021. Tom was responsible for providing strategic business planning, project management, and compliance management support within the organization. Tom also served as the Secretariat, CHRO at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2015 to 2016, where they oversaw various HR functions and managed a complex team. Before that, they worked as the Principal, Managing Director at HR STRAT CORP from 2012 to 2015, where they offered consultative services in project management. Tom's earlier experience includes serving as the Director of Human Capital Management, Director of Global Talent Acquisition, Director of Diversity Initiatives, and Strategist/Acquisition Analyst at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt from 1994 to 2012. In these roles, they were responsible for operations management, budgeting, staffing, and diversity initiatives.
Tom Waye studied Economics and Marketing at the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business, earning a BA degree. Tom later pursued Executive Management at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, completing an executive program. Additionally, they obtained a certification in Unconscious Bias from LinkedIn in 2020.
