Kevin Akers is a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where Kevin has been involved as a research assistant under Professor Juan Pablo Trelles since August 2019. Kevin's research focuses on creating fuel from plastics through the design and construction of Plasma Reactors. Kevin also serves as Co-CEO for STEM for the Streets since May 2018. Kevin has gained industrial experience through multiple internships at Procter & Gamble, including roles as a Blades and Metals Engineering intern, Packaging Engineering intern, Robotics Engineering intern, and Injection Molding Engineering intern, contributing to maintenance improvements, testing apparatus design, and quality testing initiatives. Additionally, Kevin interned at Markforged and completed a lab internship at the Carnegie Institute. Kevin is projected to graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering in December 2025 and has also pursued professional bartending training.
