Ponita Ty is a dedicated student researcher at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, currently assisting Professor Cabrera in enhancing communication between humans and underwater robots while also designing a prototype communication interface. Previous research involvement includes studying connections with astronomy and collaborating on a publication about Greek Letters with Professor Carlsmith. Ponita is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta Academic Honor Society, recognized for outstanding academic achievement as a first-year college student. Prior experience includes serving as a STEM Coordinator at Scholars for Society, where Ponita developed and taught critical STEM concepts, as well as working as a teaching assistant at The Derryfield School, supporting a course on Formula 1 racing. Ponita holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and has also completed educational programs at The Knowledge Society and Harvard University.
