Position Overview
The Project Controls Manager is responsible for assisting project and senior management in the consistent, timely, and accurate implementation of project controls in support of the construction of unique and challenging bridge and/or heavy civil and marine projects throughout the United States. He or she serves as liaison between project teams and the accounting department by providing support and guidance to engineering and management staff to improve processes on budgeting, cost reporting, contract management, and scheduling processes.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a resource to project teams on cost reporting and scheduling processes
Assists in the creation of control budgets for operations teams
Helps transition a project from successful estimate into and through the execution stage
Implement and ensure cost control processes to report on labor, equipment, and other expenditures and costs accurately
Ensure accurate cost reports and margin analyses are developed and appropriately shared. Help assemble the data as needed
Assure project control reporting documents are produced and that they clearly reflect the schedule and timeline status, cost or budget considerations, and any relevant changes
Support company reporting and document control efforts for internal and external stakeholders, including the identification, further development, and implementation of best practices and contract-specific requirements
Support change management and contractual issue resolution efforts, as necessary
Represents the company in a professional and courteous manner
Other duties as assigned by leadership
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the construction industry
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
10 years’ experience within the heavy civil and/or marine construction industry
Self-motivated and proven ability to lead collaborative efforts
Excellent grammar, composition, and verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and Viewpoint Vista
Proficient with Microsoft Office Products including SharePoint
Experience with alternative project delivery methods, including Public Private Partnerships, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, CMAR/CMGC, etc.
Experience working for state DOTs and USACE
Familiarity with Joint Venture operations, billings, and reconciliation
Travel Requirements
Limited travel may be required to various office or project locations
