Shumail Ahmed

Shumail Ahmed has had a diverse and extensive work experience. Shumail started their career as a Partner at Rejsebasen in 1999 before moving on to work as a Web Designer and Developer at Nomeco in 2000. Shumail then joined Soft Design as a Systems Consultant in 2001, followed by founding JMobiles ApS in 2003, where they worked as the Founder and CTO. At JMobiles, they focused on developing mobile solutions for major Danish media companies.

In 2005, Shumail founded Unwired Lab, which served as the offshore development office for Mailcorp ApS. At Unwired Lab, they led a development team responsible for both client projects and in-house applications. Shumail continued to work at Mailcorp ApS as the Founder and CTO from 2007 to 2014, providing development services in data-driven digital marketing and self-care platforms for Scandinavian companies.

Shumail moved on to join Wunderman as a Solution Architect in 2014, where they had technical responsibility for large-scale Scandinavian omni-channel loyalty programs and data-driven campaigns. In 2016, they took on the role of Service Delivery Manager at Ciklum, where they led development teams for major Danish clients including Salling Group and FDM.

Since 2016, Shumail has been working at Matas A/S. Shumail initially served as the Development Manager for Club Matas, leading the development of customer platforms and applications. Shumail then served as the Head of Development and later Head of Development and Data Science, before finally becoming the Head of Development & Data in 2020. In this role, they established and led the Development & Data department, responsible for various projects including Club Matas, Club Matas Plus, gift cards, and vouchers.

Shumail Ahmed has a diverse educational background. Shumail started their education in 1996 at Birkerød Gymnasium, where they obtained their International Baccalaureate degree. In 1998, they moved on to The Manchester Metropolitan University, where they completed the foundation stage for science and engineering. Shumail then attended the Engineering College of Copenhagen from 1999 to 2000, earning a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic & Computer Engineering. After a break, Shumail pursued further education at IT-Universitetet i København in 2013, where they obtained a Diploma in IT with a focus on Software Development.

In addition to their formal education, Shumail has also pursued several certifications. In 2016, they became a Certified ScrumMaster through the Scrum Alliance. In 2019, they attended the ACM Summer School on Recommender Systems, organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
