Gopal R Rao

Gopal R Rao, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of materials research and editing. Gopal R currently serves as the Chief Editor for Technical Content at the Materials Research Society, a position they have held since August 2020. Prior to this role, Gopal was the Editor of MRS Bulletin, a publication of the Materials Research Society, from April 2011 to the present. Gopal R also served as the Web Science Editor at the Materials Research Society from September 1997 to April 2011.

Before their time at the Materials Research Society, Gopal worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Gopal R held the position of Research Assistant Professor from 1996 to 1997. Prior to that, they were a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from July 1992 to December 1995.

Gopal R Rao, PhD, has an extensive education history in the field of engineering and materials science. Gopal R obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Surat, where they studied from 1981 to 1985. Subsequently, they pursued a higher degree at Auburn University/Oak Ridge National Laboratory, earning both a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering. Gopal R'sstudies at Auburn University/Oak Ridge National Laboratory spanned from 1986 to 1992.
