Kenya Heard

Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America

Kenya Heard is a dedicated educational professional with extensive experience in mathematics instruction and research. Currently serving as a Master Teacher Fellow at Math for America and a High School Mathematics Teacher in the NYC Department of Education since August 2021, Kenya has taught various courses including Geometry, Algebra I, Algebra II, Statistics, and Intro to Computer Science at multiple high schools. Previous teaching roles include positions at Prospect Schools and The Young Women's Leadership School of the Bronx. Kenya's background also encompasses research and training roles, notably as a Pre-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Research and Training Associate at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab. Kenya holds a Master's degree in Mathematics Education from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor's degree in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from Wheaton College.
