Alex Egaji

Alex Egaji is a Data Scientist currently working at Matillion since November 2022. Prior to this role, they worked as a Senior Population Health Intelligence Manager at NHS England and NHS Improvement from August 2021 to November 2022. From January 2018 to August 2021, they were a Senior R&D Associate at the Center of Excellence for Mobile and Emerging Technologies, University of South Wales. In this role, they collaborated on various R&D projects, built data models, and applied machine learning algorithms. Alex also developed data analysis and data preparation pipelines, including image augmentation and enhancement pipelines for model training.

Before that, from September 2015 to December 2017, Alex worked as a Senior Researcher Associate at the Institute of Industrial Research, University of Portsmouth. Alex collaborated on an Innovate UK funded project and devised an intelligent solution to measure key information from vehicle tires and predict safety risks. Alex also prototyped an algorithm for fault detection using vibration sensor data in a diary factory.

Alex's work experience also includes being a part-time lecturer at Staffordshire University's School of Engineering from 2010 to 2015. Alex taught undergraduate and postgraduate students, participated in research and consultancy work, and facilitated departmental meetings.

From March 2005 to June 2008, Alex worked as a System Administrator at Eastern Mediterranean University, where they installed software, resolved technical issues, and developed administrative processes for computer allocation. In 2007, they also had an internship as an OPMC (operation and maintenance) engineer at TUCKCELL Telecom. Limited, where they handled service delivery platforms and worked with Ericsson Operating systems.

Alex Egaji has a diverse education history. They hold a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Staffordshire University. They also obtained an MSc in Communication Engineering from The University of Manchester and a BS.c in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Eastern Mediterranean University.

In terms of certifications, Alex holds various credentials from Matillion Academy, including certifications in Matillion Associate, Matillion ETL Architecture, Python in Matillion ETL, The Super Data Type in Redshift, Working with Semi-Structured Data in Matillion ETL for Google BigQuery, Working with Semi-Structured Data in Matillion ETL for Snowflake, Building a Data Warehouse using Matillion, and Matillion ETL Variables. They also have a PRINCE2 Practitioner certification from APMG International and a Postgraduate Certificate in Research Methods from Staffordshire University.
