Senior Software Engineering Manager at Matillion

Barry Conway has extensive work experience in the software engineering and gaming industry. Barry is currently working at Matillion as a Senior Software Engineering Manager, a role they started in May 2023. Prior to this, Barry worked as a Software Engineering Manager at Matillion from May 2022 to May 2023.

Before joining Matillion, Barry was employed by Raytheon Technologies, where they served as a Senior Engineering Manager from October 2018 to May 2022. Prior to that, they worked at IRIS Software as a Software Engineering Manager from April 2017 to October 2018.

Barry also has experience working at HCL Technologies, where they served as a Microsoft Xbox Global Coordinator from July 2013 to April 2017. In this role, they were responsible for coordinating the full lifecycle of Xbox One and Windows 10 certification programs, managing relationships with stakeholders across Europe, Japan, and the US.

Additionally, Barry has held positions at Frontier Developments as a Software Quality Assurance Tester, Vacation Games as an Indie Games Producer, and Carphone Warehouse as a Customer Consultant.

Barry's educational background includes a Professional Masters in Games Development (MProf) from the University of Abertay Dundee, which they completed in August 2012. Barry also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Game Design & Production Management from the same university, which they obtained in July 2011.

Furthermore, Barry briefly served as a Project Manager at Next Level Dundee in September 2010.

From 2005 to 2007, Barry attended The Weald Sixth Form, where they pursued A-Levels in Business Studies, ICT Double A-Level, and History.

Barry then went on to study at Abertay University from 2007 to 2011, where they obtained a Ba (Hons) degree in Game Design and Production Management.

Continuing their education at Abertay University, Barry pursued a Masters in Professional Games Development from 2011 to 2012, focusing on Project Management & Design.

In addition to their formal education, Barry has obtained various certifications. In 2016, they became a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) and a Professional Scrum Master (PSM 1). Barry also obtained certifications as a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) and a Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO 1) in the same year.

In 2017, Barry obtained certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and an APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) from the Association for Project Management. Barry also became a PRINCE2 Practitioner certified by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT.

Most recently, in 2019, Barry acquired an Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM) certification from the Scrum Alliance.
